The state government earned Rs 36,013.14 crore, which included Rs 12,125 crore of revenue and Rs 9,555.36 crore of (sales ) during 2021-22, the highest in Tasmac’s history. Prohibition and excise minister V Senthil Balaji on Wednesday announced an increase in the consolidated pay of Rs 500 to each of the 24,805 supervisors, salesmen, and assistant salesmen. It would incur an additional expenditure of Rs 16.67 crore to the exchequer.

Replying to the debate on the demand for the department, the minister said the government had not opened a new outlet ever since it took over. “There were 5,425 Tasmac outlets when the government took over but now we run only 5,380 outlets.

No new outlet has been opened by this government. The shops are being relocated based on the opposition of the locals,” Prohibition and excise minister V Senthil Balaji said. The Tasmac management had suspended 580 staff for selling at a high price.
